What exactly is the 3M Earplug Lawsuit?
According to the 3M earplug lawsuit, the company sold earplugs to the military that were deliberately faulty, putting soldiers at significant risk of hearing loss. The dangerously loud noise involved in military activity was able to enter military soldiers’ ears due to a flaw in the seal of the harmful 3M military earplugs Version 2 (CAEv2). The manufacturer and the US Government (Department of Justice) came to an arrangement in July 2018 to settle the claims with a $9.1 million payment.
This agreement only ended the conflict between 3M and the government. Thousands of active-duty and retired military members who were harmed by 3M’s earplug products are still owed individual settlement amounts by the company.
Settling the Case
As per 3M, going bankrupt and then negotiating a settlement with creditors is the fastest method to get money into the hands of soldiers. If you used 3M earplugs while serving in the U.S. military and have since had hearing loss, you may be eligible for compensation.
Average Payouts for 3M Earplugs
The typical settlement amount for a 3M earplug claim will depend on several variables, including the following:
● The total amount of settlement
● The extent of your injuries
● The sum of actual harm that you directly suffered
